Live Animal Export
MAPA & ANTAQ
Case Status: Under Judicial Challenge
Gaia Libertas is actively engaged on both legal and institutional fronts to halt the continuous shipment of thousands of live cattle destined for slaughter abroad. Our attorneys and experts have filed appeals and challenges against port authorizations that disregard the suffering documented in independent veterinary assessments.
Case Progress
Following successive preliminary injunctions at the trial court level that ordered the suspension of shipments, the battle is currently in the appeal challenge phase, with appeals filed by export industry associations and federal regulatory agencies.
Our Legal Demands
- Immediate Suspension of New Shipments: Interruption of interstate and international maritime transport licenses based on Article 225, § 1, VII of the Federal Constitution (CF/88).
- Impartial Veterinary Assessment: Mandatory prior animal welfare reports by independent judicial experts before any docking authorization.
- Daily Fines and Environmental Civil Liability: Imposition of severe penalties on carriers for non-compliance with biosecurity and animal protection measures.
“With every challenge we file, we are giving voice to thousands of sentient beings who cannot defend themselves within the dark holds of these ships.”
